Frankly, most of the time, I don’t recommend this to our clients because generally the husband’s retirement is usually greater than our clients retirement. But that is not always true and sometimes particularly where our client, the wife, has greater income than her husband or has work longer. She would be better off to talk to him to waive his interest in her retirement.
