I live in Australia and was wondering what the average cost of a family lawyer would be, or any lawyers in Perth that are known to be cheap.
Thank You

You should be able to get legal aid if you dont earn to much or have a large amount of assets. Family lawyers are not cheap, you could sometimes pay up to 8000 for one day in court.
Depends on whether you and your ex are able to come to some sort of arrangement without too much arguing.
I was quoted at approx $6000 for a divorce, property settlement and child access order, however, as my ex has great pleasure in debating every single issue, my legal bill came to $42,000 and hers came to just under $60,000.
Hard earned money wasted on paying the solicitors for letters to each other about crap (for example, my ex wanted the toilet/bathroom accessories). This letter ended up costing her $200 and my letter of response saying ‘have the damn toilet roll and soap holder” cost about $125.
Unfortunately for me I was unable to ring her and respond verbally and had no choice in responding through my solicitor. My advice, work out as much as possible by yourselves and save a fortune.
Even if it seems like you are not receiving your fair share, look outside the square and think to yourself ‘I am fighting and paying all of this money to a solicitor to keep the TV, Car or other personal effect that may have only cost you a couple of thousand, you may win the fight, but I can almost guarantee the fight will end up costing more than the item you are fighting for.
